A fully funded PhD scholarship is available: a stipend ($35,000/year for 3.5 years) + $8,350 PhD Support package for laptop ($2,000), consumables ($4,500), and Travel ($1,850)) + tuition waiver, in the broad area of ecosystem dynamics.

If you are interested in joining The X Lab as a PhD student, please send Qiaoyun Xie a brief email to Qiaoyun.Xie@uwa.edu.au, and include your CV, motivation for pursuing a PhD degree, and research interests in your email. The Ph.D. students will have the freedom to design their research projects in the broad area of ecosystem dynamics using methods including but not limited to remote sensing and eddy covariance flux tower measurements.

The interview process will be a video chat with Qiaoyun, followed by video chats with other group members and academics at UWA upon invitation. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with excellent academics both within UWA and across the world.

Basic Qualifications:

  • H1 degree or equivalent: Bachelor’s degree needs to have a research component, eg Bachelor’s thesis/Final year project, with the weighting of at least 25% of the final year of the degree. Master's degree needs to be a Master's by research with a thesis or by way of coursework and thesis, again the weight of the thesis is at least 25% of the final year of the Master's degree. If there is no thesis or weighting is not sufficient, then we can deem degree H1 equivalent if for example there is published work (needs to be peer-reviewed).
